Frequently Asked Questions

A long and winding road in the forest as an analogy for therapy.
  • At the moment, I am only able to offer sessions through Telehealth using a secure and Hipaa compliant video platform, (similar to Zoom). This method has proven to be helpful for many clients. However, I understand that it may not be suitable for everyone. I apologize that I am currently unable to accommodate in-person sessions.

  • As an "out of network provider," I do not currently accept insurance. However, I do provide Superbill receipts that contain all the necessary and required information. This way, you can submit them to your insurance carrier if you decide to pursue reimbursement. It's important to understand that any correspondence or arrangements with insurance companies or third parties are your responsibility, and you as the client are also responsible for paying the session fees in full at the time of each appointment. Please note that I cannot guarantee any reimbursement, either partially or in full.

Please note that starting in 2024 paying for Psychotherapy Services through Medicare becomes available for Medicare Subscribers. I have chosen to opt out at this time and therefore excluded from Medicare under sections 1128, 1156, or 1892 or any other section of the Social Security Act.

  • Fees for sessions is at a rate of $150 per session for weekly bookings, and $175 per session for every other week. Each session lasts for 50 minutes. This fee applies to both couples and individual therapy. For your convenience, all major Credit Cards are accepted and payments are made at the time of each session. The Credit Card information will be securely entered and included in the Intake Documentation prior to our first session.

  • Whether you've had therapy in the past or this is your first time seeking counseling, my priority is to create a safe and comfortable environment for everyone. Each client and their therapy session is unique, and I approach each situation with a collaborative mindset. Throughout the process, I make sure to include you as the client in the decision-making, ongoing progress checks, and overall process to ensure that the therapy is effective and beneficial for you.

I understand that therapy requires both financial and time commitments. Therefore, I want you to know that part of my goal as a therapist is to empower you towards self-advocacy, self-sufficiency and growth. Together, we can determine your progress level and when you feel ready to transition to less frequent sessions. Ultimately, my aim is for you to graduate from therapy at your own pace, without feeling rushed or pressured in any way.

  • The length of therapy can vary depending on a range of factors. These factors include the client's situation that brings them to therapy, goals, specific needs, the therapeutic approach being used, and the resources available. While the duration of therapy differs from person to person, most clients typically engage in therapy for a period of 3 to 6 months. However, it's worth mentioning that many clients often have a positive and productive experience, leading them to continue therapy for an extended period of time.

  • No it does not.

Therapy is not limited to individuals who are facing difficulties in their lives. I work with people from all walks of life, providing much-needed support and guidance. Therapy can be a valuable resource for various situations, such as navigating life transitions, coping with loss, improving relationships, resolving family conflicts, personal growth, healing from trauma, managing anxiety, depression, anger, addiction, parenting challenges, and more.

Additionally, people may seek therapy to process positive and joyful events in their lives. It's important to remember that therapy is not solely for times of crisis; it can be a proactive step towards increased self-awareness, confidence, freedom, and healing.

  • The content of our sessions will vary based on your specific goals. Our origins, figuratively and literally, have a significant impact on shaping who we are today. Therefore, I find it helpful to at the minimum gather a brief overview of your life, including your childhood, in order to better understand you as an individual and to grasp your history and background. The extent to which we discuss your childhood or upbringing will depend on your unique situation, goals, and comfort level.

  • Therapy should not be seen as a quick fix or a one-size-fits-all solution for every problem. The benefits you gain from therapy are heavily dependent on the effort and willingness you put into it.

As a therapist, my role is to work collaboratively with you, guiding you in identifying and making the changes you desire in your life. Deciding to pursue therapy takes a lot of courage, and it also requires active participation and effort on your part as the client. I often use the analogy of strengthening and building new muscles through consistent workouts. Just as you can't expect results by exercising once or sporadically, therapy involves developing new emotional muscles, working through challenges, and establishing new patterns, habits, and emotional strength.

Therapy is not always easy, just like going to the gym. However, it is also not always painful or difficult. The key is to persevere and stay committed, even when facing obstacles. When you finally witness the results you've been longing for, the journey will prove to be worth every effort you put in.

  • Short answer is no. Therapists are not all the same. Therapists are human beings with their own individual personalities. They each have their own treatment approaches and use different techniques. Studies have shown that the positive relationship between a client and therapist plays a significant role in the success of therapy. Therefore, it is important to find a therapist who is the right fit for you and your own unique personality.
